Ministerial. The Hon. J. Bitchener, Minister of Public Works, will return to Wellington by the ferry steamer from the south this morning. Commissioner Cunningham, of the Salvation Army, is at present on a visit to Gisborne. Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, returned by the Makura yesterday after a business visit to Australia.
Colonel Levi Taylor, who recently retired from the position of chief secretary of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, will, with Mrs. Taylor, leave for Vancouver by the Aorangi on July 25 en route to Toronto.
Mr. J. G. Peddie, B.Sc., senior bacteriologist assistant at the Wallaceville Laboratory for the past three years, has been transferred to Samoa to take up the position of bacteriologist at the hospital there. On Saturday, the staff of the laboratory made a presentation to Mr. Peddie, and wished him the best of luck.
