Wilkins was the referee; . : / TECHNICAL SURPRISE - VARSITY.’ ..-Despite the fact that Varsity fought! strenuously in the second spell to avert’ defeat, Technical Old Girls were ‘equal to all occasions, and secured a-surprise win by 3 goals to 1. In the opening session Technical, playing bright‘hockey.’ made the play and kept Varsity busy , defending for practically three : quarters of the spell. The interval saw Technical; leading by 2 goals to 1. Varsity rallied after resuming and, despite strenuous efforts, found the Technical defence impregnable. A neat piece of forward play resulted in Technical scoring a third goal, the game concluding in favour of Technical by 3 goals to 1. Misses E. Dunce (2) and S. Jackson secured the winners’ goals. Mr. W. Keys was the referee. SENIOR B GAMES College Old Girls, with practically half a junior team, held Toa well for the first quarter of the match, when they were unfortunate to lose the services, of their left full-back, Miss J. Wright, through injury. Appreciated sportsmanship >vas displayed by Toa’s captain, Miss W. Katene. in,- allowing the ex-collegians to bring on another player, Miss Jean Murray. Toa led by 2 goals to-nil at halftime. The resumption saw College Old Girls net. Miss Murray scoring a simple goal. This reverse set the Maoris on their mettle, and from three penalty comers they brought their final score to five, the game ending in Toa winning by s'goals to 1; Miss E. Te Hiko was in her best scoring mood, securing four of the five goals, while Miss W. Budge obtained the' other.-', Old Girls sadly missed the services of Mrs. H. Walker, full-back, who is ill in hospital. Much credit for holding the Maoris from making a much higher score must go to Miss Riria Walker, who played a great game at full-back for Old Girls, and her partner, Miss V. Wilson. Mr. J. Cusack was the referee.

At Karori Park, Wenerei beat Swifts by 2 goals to nil after only a fair exhibition. Swifts played one short until shortly after the commencement of the second spell. Wenerei made their scores in the first session, Misses Calver and Lawrence being the successful goalgetters. Mr. K. S. Henry was referee. Hospital were unlucky not to draw level with Upper Hutt'at Newtown Park, losing by 3 goals to 2. The game was fast arid keen throughout and there was very little -between the teams. Upper Hutt’s goals .were obtained by Misses Lee, Avery, and, I. Shiel, while Misses Dickson, arid/ Dashfield obtained Hospital’s goals. Messrs. Henare Tahiwi and A. Roxburgh were, the referees. Technical; Old Girls and Hutt played a drawn game at-Woburn. Technical played a bright game and kept Hutt busy averting defeat. The match nil through was fast and keen. Misses M. M. Bailile, P. Cook and N. Mack gained Technical’s goals. Mr. W. R. Dredge was referee. LOWER GRADE RESULTS Junior: Poneke 2 (Miss B. McDonnell 2), Varsity 0; Johnsonville 1, Centics 0: Petone Technical 3.
