Mrs. Longmore Entertains
Continuing the series of entertainments leading to the Brahms Festival beginning next Saturday, Mrs. A. Longmore gave a delightful musical party last night at No. 15 Brougham Street, when more than a hundred guests enjoyed an excellent programme in ideal surroundings. The long drawing-room, with deep bay-window at one end, was most attractively arranged as a concert hall. This was comfortably filled by a very appreciative audience, which overflowed into the hall and a second sitting-room. 4 Mrs. Longmore received her guests in a graceful dress of violet lace and georgette, with short jacket of gold lame, finished with a diamente buckle at the waist.
At the conclusion of the programme a delicious supper was handed round, during which Mr. John Bishop explained again, in a few words, the objects of the Festival, and the work which the committee hoped to accomplish in the interests of music.
The programme was as follows: — Piano solo, Mrs. Ivon Wilson; songs, Miss Ethna Greig, accompanied by Mrs. Ginn; violin solo, Miss Ruth Reid; vocal quartettes and trios, Misses N. Gray, E. Fair, Mesdames Townley and Ramsay; recitation, Miss Jean Sutherland; songs, Miss Marjorie Bennie; songs, Mrs. P. Ramsay; songs, Mr. E.
Short; songs, Mr. Claude Batten; 'cello solo, Miss Therle Oswin. Among those present were: Lady Buckleton, Mesdames Noel Nelson, Dal-, lard, E. Hunt, Ginn, Goodson, J. Bishop, Mrs. and Miss Bennie, Mrs. and Miss Oswin, Mr. and Mrs. Rodie. Miss E. Fair, Miss Cookson, Mrs. and Miss Sutherland, Miss Joan Maunder, Mrs. Gunn, Mrs. Doctor, Miss E. Crump, Miss. Gow, Mrs. Townley, Mr. and Mrs. Hazelwood, Mr. and Mrs. Drayton, Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. W. F.- Legge, Mr. and Mrs. V. Freeth, Miss Monica Malfroy, Miss Gatwood, Mr. G.
