BUTTER PRICES
Taranaki District Sales Dominion Special Service. New Plymouth, June 10. It is understood that firms were seeking offers of butter at 10|d. in North Taranaki during the week, but that no sales were effected. The price is the highest that has been offered for the greater part of the present season, and is equivalent to nearly 88/6 on the London market at the present rate of exchange. There is little butter left to sell in the district, all but a few factories having disposed of the rest of the season’s output. The strength of the butter market was further demonstrated yesterday when the Midhirst Dairy Company sold 2000 boxes at the advanced price of 10id. a lb. This is the best price so far obtained in Taranaki and confirms the opinion expressed a fortnight ago-that the price then ruling at OJd. would rise appreciably. Midhirst has now sold varying quantities at 9}d., 10d„ and lOld. Offers of 5 5-Bd. for cheese were available yesterday in Central Taranaki.
