WANGANUI HARRIERS
Saturday’s Steeplechase Wanganui, June 11. On Saturday the Wanganui Harrier Club held a five-mile steeplechase on tbe racecourse. Some 45 members lined up for the start. Tho course included about 25 jumps, which were taken in fine style by most members. Fast: times were recorded by the members, the fastest being 2Smin. 25sec. The race wns a handicap, with a limit of Bmin. Powell, the first man home, ran a good race and finished in fine style. A wonderful sprint was made by E. Carveil, who finished third. Ho passed two men on the post. The following were tho results: A. Powell, 3.; E. Tingey. 2: E. Carrell, 3; J. Patterson, 4: R. Pepper. 5. Fastest times were: C. Weller and K. Johnston, 2Smin. 25sec.; G. Johnston, 29min. 9scc. Next week the members will hold a scaled handicap race over the championship course.
