LIQUOR GIVEN MAORIS
Hotel Licensee Fined Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, Alay 3. Charged with selling liquor after hours and with supplying liquor to natives for consumption off tiie premises, Johu McKenna was fined £5 and costs on each charge by Air. R. AVatsou, S.M., in the Feilding Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Sergeant Angland said that the three Maoris who were involved in the headon collision between two motor-cycles on the night of February 14 had procured liquor from defendant. Defendant bad refused to supply the natives* with liquor, but when they persisted in their request had eventually supplied them.
In fining defendant, the magistrate pointed out Hie seriousness of the offence of supplying liquor to natives to consume off the premises.
