Meeting at Palmerston

The usual monthly meeting of the Manawatu Women’s Club took place recently nt Palmerston North, when a delightful afternoon was spent by a large number of vistors and friends at Collinson and Cunninghamcs tea rooms.

The hostesses were Mesdames Rowntree and Sinclair, and Miss C. Ashton, Among the visitors were: Mesdames M. Sullivan, W. Richardson. F. Scott, E. C. Barnett, Phillips, V. Forbes, A. H. Just, J. Hodgson. .1. Aiken ami W. Brotherhood, and Misses M. Cameron, I’. Hastings. L. Newman. J. Gaustad and E. Clark, all of Palmerston North; Mesdames 11. G. Reading and M. Isbister, of Auckland, W. J. Stent, of Sydney, Shrimpton. of Christchurch. Sanderson, of Hamilton and Miss Beryl • Stevens, of Ashhurst. An instrumental trio, the Misses Wood and Mjss Mavis Muirhead presented several items, and Miss Margaret Walker sang two numbers, Miss Muirhead accompanying. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames M. Aitchison, J.’ Davidson, Spraggon, J. Ctiuninghame, E. Coutts, H. 8. Porteous, and Misses Cranston and Cunninghame. Afternoon tea was served, after which Miss McCrea, the secretary of the Wellington Y.W.C.A., gave an entertaining and inforihal talk on a recent trip abroad.
