Liquid rouge, which is as nearly as possible waterproof even in salt water, should be applied over a waterproof foundation cream, obtainable in various colours. Waterproof make-up for the eyelashes and indelible lipsticks are both obtainable. There is, too, a powder which protects the skin against salt air.
-The shiny skin which is a general hot weather affliction is just as frequently caused by over-dryness as by oiliness. In both cases avoid the frequent, washing which one feels to be a necessity, as too much water will increase dryness and not remove grease.
Give the face a thorough cleansing night and morning with a good cream, which will help to keep the skin soft throughout the day. Follow this with a cooling wash with skin tonic, which can be used during the day to freshen up. Use a honey-coloured oil as a powder foundation, or a waterproof cream if you want to prevent sun-tan.
