BAGS FOR BEACH
Salt water and sand often spoil good leather handbags. If you are contemplating a holiday it is wisest to leave your ordinary town handbag at home and take specially suitable ones away with' you. A sensible as well as smart bag can be made at home with the aid of some good strong linen or canvas. For general use it can be made of coloured linen, with a zip fastener at the top.
There is another type of bag—a bol-ster-shaped hold-all—that can be made in any striped fabric for carrying towels, swimming suit, cap and paddling shoes.
It is advisable to line it with thin mackintosh so that when you put wet costumes in the moisture will not come through when you are carrying it home. This can also be zip-fastened or with press studs.
The plain and striped waterproof canvas—that is used for deck chairs—is very good.
