By winning three races out of five starts, the Union Boat' Club retained the Aulsebrook Cup this afternoon. All events were eight-oar contests and the large crowd that attended were rewarded with fine rowing and close finishes. The races were held on the town course below the bridge. The total points scored by the different clubs were as follow’: —Union. 12; Aramoho, 4; Wanganui. 4. Detailed results:—

Junior eights: Union Boat Club (T. Ditchfield, stroke; Mowat, Granville, Cotterill, Byres, Tasker, Craigmyle, Bilderbeck, bow), 1; Aramoho, 2; Wanganui, 3, The race was a good one. all the way and the finish was’a stirring one.. Union heading Aramoho to the post by a small margin. Maiden eights (open): Union and Aramoho dead-heated for first place.. Union (Ryland, stroke: Earles. Cutalli, Moss, Luxford,' Carr, Kiddle, Thompson, bow) and Aramoho (Anderson, stroke; Symes. Robb, Harper, Waugh, Arnold, Percy, Burr, bow), 1: Wanganui. 3. For the first part of the journey Wanganui led the way, but they tired over the last halfmile, leaving Aramoho and Union to fight out a desperate finish, which ended in a dead-heat, both crews being locked together as they swept past the finishing post. Youths’ eights: Union (Hasler, stroke; Luxford. Stephens, Bern, Gould, Sheppard, W. Thompson, Waters, bow), 1; Aramoho, 2; Wanganui, 3. ■ Union had to go all out over the last quarter of a mile to win this race as both Wanganui and Aramoho kept plugging hard from start to finish. Union were half a length to the good at the finish. Maiden eights (lOst. and under) : Wanganui (Cass, stroke: Steele. Allwood, Charman,- Thomson, Harman, Powell, Graham, bow), 1; Union, 2; Aramoho. 3 All three crews, got away to a good start. With half the distance gone Aramoho were in the lead, followed closely ,-by their rivals. Union came fast and displaced Aramoho a hundred yards from the post, but they were more than surprised to sec the Wanganui club eight come swinging along with great speed, and although Union sprinted for all they were worth, they, had to acknowledge defeat to Wanganui by three feet. The winners got a rousing reception. Open eights: Union (Ditchfield, stroke; Mowat. Granville, Bilderbeck, Ryland, Cotterill. Gould, Luxford, bow), 1; Wstnganui, 2; Aramoho, 3. Aramoho were the first to hit the front, with Wanganui following closely on their heels. ' At the business end of the race. Union made up leeway and in a hectic finish won by a canvas from the red and blacks.

In the evening, at a dance in the Union Board Club, the Aulsebrook Cup was presented -to the winners, who were congratulated on retaining the trophy.
