GIANT THISTLES
' In Centra! Hawke’s Bay Waipukurau, Jan. 21,
Thistles of both-the Scotch and wing variety are very abundant in the Central Hawke’s Bay this year, Wing thistles show a particularly luxuriant - growth. It is not uncommon to find them, in clumps over 8 feet in height. When visiting Onga Onga, a “Dominion” representative was shown a number of Scotch thistles with stalks 8 inches in width, caused through a peculiarity in their growth. Numbers of thistles seemed to be similarly affected.
