CAR-DRIVER KILLED
Vehicle Plunges Down Hill Near Wanganui
OCCUPANT INJURED

Wanganui, Jan. 22.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday a five-seater car driven by Walter Naughton Grantham, aged 25, left the road a mile and a half on the Wanganui side of Kai Iwi and plunged down a hill. Mr. Grantham was thrown out and killed, the cat.se of his death being a broken neck. The owner of the car, Mr. Stanley Joseph Eriksen, a'Patea' County Council surfaceman, residing at Moumahaki, was the only other occupant. He was thrown out. but only slightly hurt. Mr. Grantham, a former Flock House boy, was unemployed, but was to start as a shepherd to-morrow. .It is understood that the only relative alive is his mother, living at Whitby, Hull, England.
