KILLED BY GUN
Dragging It Through Fence
Dominion -Speciai Service
Featherston, Jan. 21
A verdict that deceased died as the result of a gunshot wound in the abdomen caused through the gun exploding while being pulled through a fence was returned by the coroner, Mr. E. G. Eton, at the conclusion of an inquest on William Thomas Jamieson. Jamieson, who was employed on a coastal boat operating from Wellington, was found dead on a farm at Feathertson, where he had been rabbit shooting. Constable McLeod said that he found a double-barrelled gun half-way through a wire fence, the muzzle of which was pointing toward deceased, who was lying face downward. Apparently deceased had got through the fence, gone down the bank, and then reached for the gun, the triggers of which had come in contact with the wires, causing an explosion. Dr. G. S. Sharp stated that the post-’ tion and condition of the wound was consistent with this theory.
