The executive of the New Zealand Bowling Association at its meeting on Monday received an invitation to visit Tasmania in the event of a New Zealand team visiting Australia during the coming season. A reply is to be sent that no official visit will take place this season.. Farewell to Constable. Constable S. J. Lush, who is being transferred to Napier, -was met by his colleagues at the central station last evening, and presented with a law textbook and a set of china. Senior-Ser-geant J. Dempsey made the presentation. and Constable Lush gratefully acknowledged the gifts. He will leave for Napier on Friday. Education Board Tenders. Amended conditions of contract for Education Board works provide that each tenderer shall deposit cash, money order, bank draft, or cheque marked good by the bank for 21 days, for a sum equal to 5 per cent, of tbe tendersuch deposit to be returned to each unsuccessful tenderer as soon as a contract for the work has been signed. Tenders not in compliance with the above conditions will not be considered. Chairs for Scots College. At the annual prize distribution at Scots College last night the principal, Mr. J. R. Sutcliffe, said that two years ago he inaugurated a scheme whereby tbe college could secure some tangible evidence, other than desk carvings, of boys who had passed through the school. The idea was for each old boy to present a chair bearing his name and years at the school. So far 29 chairs had been presented. It was hoped to receive many more, and that some day the college would have a suitable assembly hall in which to place them. Fear From the Air. A letter was received at yesterday’s meeting of the Education Board from the Eketahuna Chamber of Commerce drawing the attention of the board to the remarkable speech recently given by Mr. Stanley Baldwin in connection with disarmament. The reference was to the notable “fear from the air” speech. The letter recommended that the speech should be posted up in every school. On the suggestion of the chairman, Mr. T. Forsyth, it was decided to write to the Education Department suggesting that the speech should be reprinted in the .“School Journal.”
