TRINITY CHURCH

Tablet to be Unveiled As the authorities of Trinity Methodist Church deemed it inadvisable to hold a bazaar this year, a gift Sunday was held, and the result more than justified the experiment. Money boxes had been placed in many of the homes, and when these had been emptied and added to Sunday’s offerings the amount totalled £B7, with a few returns still to come.

The services last Sunday were conducted by the Rev. W. Bramwell Scott. At the morning services Mr. A. Voyce sang as a solo, "Thanks be to God,” and at the evening service, "There is a Green Hill” was rendered as a quartet by the McClellan family, and Mrs. Pengelly sang “Take My Life” as a* solo. The services were well attended.

Next Sunday morning, at 10.45 a.m., his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, will unveil a tablet, to be erected on the Memorial Lych Gate, now in course of construction, to the memory of the Methodist pioneers, who more than 60 years ago erected the first place of Christian worship in Wellington South. His Excellency will read the lesson, and the Rev. W. Bramwell Scott will be the preacher. The choir will render special music.

Permission has been granted by the civic authorities for a short service of dedication to be held on the pavement before proceeding in to the church for the main service. The Trinity Methodist Guides and Scouts will form a guard of honour. His Excellency on arrival will be met by the minister of the church, and two of the senior trustees. Messrs. 8. T. S. Martin and C. M. Luke. The unveiling of the tablet will then take place, and a prayer of dedication offered.
