WEEK-END ACCIDENTS
An M.P. Knocked Down NUMEROUS CASUALTIES Eight accidents, none with serious consequences, occurred in Wellington citv and suburbs during tbe week-end. Mr. D. S. Reid, M.P. for Raglan, was knocked down by a motor-cycle iu Willis Street about live o’clock yesterday afternoon nearly opposite the Empire Hotel. He received a lacerated wound to the right eye, slight concussion and abrasions to the right hand, and was taken to 117 Sydney Street West by the Free Ambulance. While playing on his lawn at 114 Randwick Road, Lower Hutt, about 4.30 yesterday afternoon Mr. A. Brown, painter, apparently slipped, and received a fracture to his left leg. After receiving attention from Dr. Owen he was taken to the hospital by the Free Ambulance. Fell Over a Cliff. An injury to his left elbow, received through falling over a cliff at Porirua on Saturday afternoon, necessitated Mr. James Jack, optical mechanic, of 104 Yule Street, being taken to the hospital bv the Free Ambulance. Mrs. K. Dean, of 43 Buckle Street, had the misfortune to slip down some stairs at her home at about 11 o’clock on Saturday evening. She received a fracture of the right leg and was taken to the hospital by tbe Free Ambulance. Child Burneil by Caustic. A child aged two years, Dale Weggery, of 72 Hopper Street, received burns to his mouth and tongue through taking a mouthful of caustic soda on Saturday afternoon. After attention from Dr. Plimmer he was taken to the hospital by the Free Ambulance. Head injuries were received by Mrs. S. Satherley. of 11 Evelyn Place, through slipping and falling on Saturday afternoon. She was taken to the hospital by the Free Ambulance. Knocked down by a motor-car, Mr. Gordon Cain, law clerk, living at 9 Nevay Hoad, Miramar, was admitted to the hospital shortly after 8 o’clock on Saturday evening suffering from concussion and abrasions to the face and hands. His condition last evening was reported as being satisfactory. Cricketer’s Eye Gashed.
While playing cricket on Trafalgar Park. Lower Hutt, on Saturday. Mr. G. Collins, of I’etone, received a gash on the left eye. After receiving first aid from a member of the Hutt Workshops Ambulance Division, who had to call in a doctor to stitch the wound, Mr. Colljns was able to proceed to his home.
