MANY “INCIDENTS”

Stribling-Freeman Boxing

Match

INQUIRY TO BE HELD

(Rec. October 30, 5.5 p.m.)

Sydney, Oct. 30.

At the Stadium last night a boxing contest between “Young” Stribling and Johnny Freeman was declared “no fight,” in the eighth round. There was a series of objectionable incidents, fouling, holding and hitting, in which Stribling was the chief offender. He occasionally used “shamrock” hitting after the breakaway. The crowd demonstrated its disapproval, constantly hooting. Freeman was nearly outed in the first round with a straight left to the chin, but he pulled himself together and became the aggressor.

An inquiry into the match is to be held.
