TRYING VOYAGE

New Zealand to Sydney MOTOR-YACHT BETH Vessel Dogged by Storms By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Rec. October 30, 6.30 p.m.) Sydney, Oct. 30. Displaying fortitude worthy of the old-time adventurers in a cockle-shell craft, five men reached Sydney overnight from Auckland in the 13-ton motor-yacht Beth. The party consisted of Mr. T. Webb and his two sons, of Adelaide, and Messrs. Cecil Bowman and Basil Stallard. They were dogged by storms and terribly confused seas, many of which broke inboard. The wind was howling all the time. One of the Webbs was thrown from his bunk three times. Sea-sickness was prevalent aboard. Wretched weather was experienced all the way from Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands, but the little craft rode the seas well.

Some members of the party cherished not the’ slightest / hope of getting through safely.
