Games in the Provinces WAIRARAPA COMPETITIONS Dominion Special Service. Masterton, Oct. 30. Cricket competitions were continued in Masterton yesterday, the two matches jn the senior grade being completed. Rain threatened all the afternoon, and at times light showers fell, but they were not heavy enough to cause players to abandon the games. Playing at Park Oval, United tenured a two-point win from Lansdown.on the first innings, and Old Boys, playing at High School grounds, defeated High School by 50 runs on the first innings. Lansdowne v. United When the Lansdowne-United game was resumed yesterday, United had 262 runs to their credit from the previous Saturday, and Lansdowne’s score stood at 30 for one wicket. The remaining nine wickets, with the exception of W. Whiteman’s, fell very cheaply, the whole side being dismissed for 119. The best stand was made by Whiteman, who secured a total of 72 runs not out, his tally including ten “fours.” Eight of the ten wickets were secured by Hoar, who was ressponsible for the dismissal of H. Preston (8), A. Whiteman (2). J. Whiteman (11), R Faulknor (0), C. Faulknor (6), A. Redley (2). J. Haise (0), and W. Sutherland (0). All these, with the exception of A. Whiteman, and R. and C. Faulknor, were clean bowler. A. Whiteman was caught by Spackman, IL Faulknor by A. Hoar, and P. Whiteman adjudged l.b.w. Bowling for United F. Hoar took eight wickets for 25 runs!; Renner one for 29; and Smith one for 6. W. Whiteman played a spirited game iu Lansdowne’s second innings, securing a total-of 102 not out, which included 16 “fours” and two “sixers.” Preston knocked up 35 before he was caught by F. Old Boys Old Boys had secured a tally of 178 runs in their first innings played on the previous Saturday, to which High School replied with 128 in their first innings yesterday afternoon. No very startling scores were registered, the highest being secured by A. Todd, who hit up 34 before being bowled by D. Denby. A McWhinnie secured 32 runs, Peterson 14, W. Maxted 4, H. B. Massey 1, B. Welch 3, Chesterman 0, Cambourne 16, O’Callaghan 2, Shatter 14, and Hutton 5 not out. Bowling for Old Boys Montgomery took four for 26. Miller two for 13. Watts two for 11, and Denby two for 10. In their second innings Old Boys had scored 132 runs for the loss of seven wickets when stumps were drawn. The batsmen contributing to that score were B. Jenkins (28), K Montgomery (22), P. Watts (20), J. Denby (20 not out), E. Miller (16), C. Cook (10). J. Logan Scored 1, and Wilson was discussed without scoring. Massey, O’Callaghan and Chesterman took two wickets each, while Hatton accounted for the remaining wicket.

PUKETOI SUB-ASSOCIATION

Pahiatua, Oct. 30. The report presented at the annual meeting of the Puketoi Cricket SubAssociation stated that only two representative matches were -played last season and both, had resulted in wins for the opposing team. Four teams participated in the competition, which was won by Pongaroa. The number of teams competing was one less than the previous year owing to the inability of Rakanui to field a team. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr. C. P. Hunter; president, Mr. IL B. Robertson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. W. E. Davies, A. Urquhart, E. W. Clemens, I*. R. Kent, 11. petition on January 7. 1933, and in the event of only four teams competing,an extra rouud will be played if deemed necessary. An endeavour is to be made to arrange a North v. South match with the Pongaroa River as the boundary between the two areas. EKETAHUNA CLUB Eketahuna, Oct. 28. At the annual meeting of the Eketahuna Cricket Club the president, Mr. S. J.
