LIONEL BARRYMORE and Joan Crawford surprised each other with the intensity of their characterisation by bursting into tears in the first scene they played together in “Grand Hotel.” a new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production. Joan’s tears followed. “The most genuinely touching scene I have ever witnessed,” was the comment of Director Edmund Goulding.
