Simple Remedies
Sir, —“Having read Mr. G. F. Moore’s very interesting letter on the grass grub,” writes “Naturalist,” “one can appreciate such a suggestion, having seen it tried out effectively on a small scale. Mr. Moore’s letters are always most interesting and are far too rare in your columns. True it is there are many simple remedies for many pests, and, may I add, ills of the flesh, and all are obtained naturally, or for the picking of same. For instance, rauriki is a fine blood purifier; koromiko is good for the heart; bidabid flower is a cure for dysentry. and mingo is a sure cure for piles. Boiled gum leaves are good for wounds in animals, and there are no doubt many others.”
