New Zealand War Medal

Sir,—l notice in Friday’s issue of “The Dominion” a picture of the New Zealand War Medal. This medal was one issued to officers and men of the Imperial Army; that issued to the Colonial Forces had no embossed figure on the reverse side to show the period it was earned in. The circle in the one issued to the Colonial Forces was blank, but if you held the medal sideways in the light you could find out the period it was issued for, as it is written in acid showing the years served. I hold one for the early 'sixties service, which I have worn since 1871.—1 am, etc., MAORI WAR VETERAN. Palmerston North, September 3.
