SYDNEY SHEEP SHOW

N.Z. Prize-winners SOUTHDOWNS PRAISED (Rec. June 23, 10.40 p.m.) Sydney, June 23. The annual sheep show opened on the Sydney showgrounds to-day. The exhibits embrace sheep from the three wool-growing States and New Zealand. D. Sidey, of Glenovis, Canterbury, obtained-first and second awards for Southdown ram, any age, and ewe, any age. The judge commented that they were the best lot of Southdowns ever exhibited in Sydney, just the type of sheep required for the fat lamb trade, the introduction of which into Australia would enable growers here to compete on a new footing with their formidable rivals in New Zealand. D. Grant, of Elioughton, Timaru, exhibited Border Leicesters. He obtained first award for ram under two years shorn within six weeks of the show, and several seconds.
