MYSTERIOUS DELAY
New Zealand-Canadian Trade UNRATIFIED TREATY Ottawa, April 12. Mystery shrouds the Government’s delay In the ratification of the trade treaty with New Zealand. All attempts to question the Minister of Commerce, Mr. H. H. Stevens, draw only the reply that certain formalities have not been completed. A message from Vancouver states that, the Board of Trade and the lumber industry are puzzled by the delay over the treaty. Mr. Stevens, on his return here from Honolulu, stated that the pact would be completed without delay. There is a strong suspicion that a hitch has developed within the ranks of the Bennett Ministry. Lumbermen are considering pressing the Government for an explanation.
