ABOLITION OF OATH
Labour M.P.’s Proposal (Rec. April 13, 10.35 p.m.) London, April 13. Mr. J. McGovern (Lab.) has given notice that he will Introduce a Bill in the House of Commons on April 20 to abolish the oath in the British Parliament. 'The text of the Bill has not yet been drafted, but according to the “Sketch’s” lobby correspondent it will contain a conscience clause permitting Republicans objecting to the monarchy to take their seats without taking the oath, but will not stop members taking the oath who wish to do so.
