SCOTS INVADE LONDON

Soccer International

ENGLAND WINS, 3—o

(Rec. April 10, 6.45 p.m.)

London, April 9.

In the Soccer International match today England beat Scotland by 3 to 0. Forty thousand Scots descended upon London to reinforce the thousands of their compatriots here, and turned the scene about the Wembley arena into a tartan carpet, which broke into violent eruption as the Scottish players appeared. Tam o’ shanters, umbrellas, and tartan scarves were hurled into the air regardless of cost. A roar of applause, blended with the skirling of pipes, the screaming of mouth-organs, and the reverberating of rattles split the startled southern welkin. Thousands of nation-ally-dressed lassies brightened the scene, while one enthusiast conducted a bagpipe band with a whisky bottle as a baton.

A trainload of visitors from Inverness wiU have travelled 1130 miles by the time they return home.
