Offers for State’s Fleet

Propositions have been received froip' private companies to take over the New Zealand and West Indies services of the Canadian Government MerchanS Marine, the Minister of Railways, Mx, Manion, told the House Committee on Railways and Shipping on Thursday, Several of these proposals were front companies largely American. This created a somewhat difficult situation for the Government. For that reason the whole question of disposing of the Government fleet was still sub judice, but it would have to be decided this year.
