Several applications for permission to hold carnivals were dealt with by the committee of the' Wellington Swimming Centre last < .-ening. , , , The Hutt Valley club was allotted the junior and intermediate provincial championships, which will be held at Riddiforcl Baths on January 7. . The Wellington club was given permission to hold a carnival on January 16. January 30 was approved as the date for a combined carnival by the Lyall Bay and Maranui clubs, , , Championship events to be decided during the season were allocated as follow : —• Wellington club: 100 yards and 220 yards breaststroke. Lyall Bay and Maranui clubs: 50 yards. 440 yards, and dive. Worser Bay: 220 yards and Walker and Hall Cup race. University: SBO yards. Hutt Valley: 100 yards, women, and 150 yards backstroke. Appreciation was expressed of a donation of £lO/10/- from Eyans Bay club toward the centre’s educational fund. The appointment of Mr. W. H. Gerrie as centre starter was confirmed. Mr. C. E. Claridge was appointed selector of polo teams, and Mr. J. Alexander sole selector of the Wellington representatives for the New Zealand swimming championships. Reference was made to the deaths or Sir John Luke and Mr. 11. W. Shallcrass, and a motion of condolence with the relatives in each case was passed.
