A Welcome and a Farewell
Commandant Nellie Newton and Ensign Mabel Newton, two Salvation Army officers, will arrive in Wellington next Monday on the Mqnowai. The commandant served for over ten years as a missionary officer in China, and the ensign has been a Women’s Social Officer in New Zealand, being specially active in police court and probation work.. During the past two years they visited the Holy Land, Italy, Germany, and England. On Tuesday next Commissioner Cunningham will conduct a missionary farewell gathering at the Vivian Street Citadel The farewelling officers are Captain Kingsley Mortimer, who is going to Rhodesia, Soutli Africa, and Lieutenant Eva Fleury, who is proceeding to Indin. Captain Mortimer has been assistanteditor of the “War Cry” in Wellington for the past three years, and the lieutenant has been n field officer, being stationed at Island Bay. „ , Major Annie Smyth,, from Japan, and Commandant and Ensign Newton will be welcomed home at the same gathering.
