FLIGHT AT NIGHT
Manawatu Club Instructor PALMERSTON TO MARTON Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, September 3. A distinct step in the progress of aviation in the Manawatu was made last night when Major Cowper, instructor to the Manawatu Aero Club, accompanied by Mr. lan Mac Ewan. made the first night flight in the district. Having visited Marton in connection with a proposal to found an aerodrome as a branchi of the Feilding Aero Club, the flyers left Marton at 11.0 p.m., landing safely on the -Milson aerodrome approximately 20 minutes later. . When interviewed this morning Major Cowper expressed the opinion that in the near future there would be as much flying done at night as in the daytime. “Night flying is perfectly safe, he said, "besides being much more pleasant.
