UNEMPLOYED RELIEF

Concert at Petone

The Petone Labour Hall was crowded last evening, when a concert and picture entertainment was given in aid of the Petone Unemployed Relief Fund. The entertainment was organised by the Unemployed Men’s Committee. The concert programme comprised a song, Mr. Al. Trowers; sketch, Messrs. W. Langridge, J. Evans, R. Whittington, and R. Wallis; duet, Nohi Toki and T. Love; song, Mr. H. Fittam; tap dance, Miss Olga Coulsfon; mouth-organ solo, Master Cresswell; song, Mr. T. Thompson. Mrs. T. Te Puni acted as accompanist. Mr J. Goodall, secretary of the iinemnloyed committee, thanked the audience for attending in such large numbers. He also thanked the artists, Mr. H. Bartlett, management committee of the Labour Party, teachers and scholars of Petone West and Central Schools, and to the ladies’ committee, which was responsible for the supper provided.

WILFORD SCHOOL SOCIAL

Socials, dances, and 500 evenings are held regularly by the Wilford Home and School Association to raise funds for worthy purposes. The school social room was crowded for the last entertainment. The programme included: Song, missi b. Aitcheson; violin solo, Miss Arrowsmith, instrumental trio, the Parata family , gionologue, Mr. List; humorous -duo, Messrs. Forrester and Muirhead, duet, Misses Kearns and Wright. ■ A competition was won by Mrs. Burnett. Winners, of the 500-card tournament were Mrs. Lambert, Mr. Pattmson, and Mrs. Cleland. . . , , .
