September 2, 7.80 p.m.) New York, September L The New York police have revealed the details of a sensational kidnapping plot in which an attractive young octroon girl, posing as a white woman, lured into the hands of five male companions Charles Rosenthal, a wealthy young bachelor broker, member of a soclally-promlnent family. The extortionists threatened Rosenthal with death unless he paid 100,000 dollars ransom. They then reduced the sum to 50,000 dollars, which the broker’s mother provided. It Is now revealed that the reduction followed Rosenthal's winning of half the required amount In dice games with his captors while awaiting release. The police apprehended the group when the leader of the gang attempted to escape from the others with the ransom, and the latter were prepared to murder the leader for “double-crossing” them.
