MAORI DOCKED

Bow Plate Strained ANOTHER BEING FITTED On her arrival at Lyttelton last Friday morning the Union Company’s ferry steamer Maori was placed In dry dock to have some rivets tightened in the forepeak just above her bow rudder. When she was ready to be floated out. of dock ip the afternoon it was discovered that the water was still finding Its way in, and further temporary'repairs had to be executed. This additional work was not completed until 9 p.m. on Friday, and the Maori did not in consequence leave Lyttelton until 10 p.m,, two hours late.

When the Maori arrived at Lyttelton yesterday morning she was again drydocked, and it Is understood that the defective plate is to be replaced by a new one. in which event the work will probably extend into to-day. It is considered that the severe buffeting received by the Maori in the heavy southerly gale of June 23 Is responsible for the leak which had since developed.
