Wellington East Electorate

Sir,—l observe that the United Party is expected to nominate Mr. J. J. Clark as candidate for Wellington East. At the last general election Mr. ■ Clark, as n.i Independent Reform candidate, was mainly responsible for making a “present” of the seat to the Labour-Socialistic Party. Evidently he can readily adapt himself to “quick change” methods. But the matter is too serious, to be treated lightly. Already, Mr. . Gaudin is announced ; presumably Reform will nominate a candidate, and there is likely to.be a plethora of candidates, from which anli-Lftbour electors will be able to make a selection. Unfortunately, and much to the discomfort of a large majority of electors, everything points to Labour retaining its munificent “gift” handed to it by political parties claiming to place country first!—l am, etc.. ELECTOR.
