A HAPPY THOUGHT

New Sand-bin for Kindergarten .' A large number of mothers' and members of the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association, as well as members of the Chilton House, Old Girls’ Association met yesterday morning at the Berihampore Free • Kindergarten to witness the opening of the new sand-bin for the children. This fascinating bin was presented to the Kindergarten by the Chilton House old girls, who have proved such good friends to the association. Mrs. W. It. Davidson, president of the Wellington Free Kindergarten, read a letter from Mrs. Henry Smith saying how glad she was to know that the Chilton House bld girls were carrying on the spirit of service. Mrs. H. D. Vickery, president of, the Chilton House Old Girls’ Association, in declaring the sand-bin open, said it was very pleasant to be able to provide it for the children. She hoped they would have many happy hours building castles and digging -with their spades. The bin has n rounded brick base and sides, and is about 12ft. long and Bft. wide. It is closed by a large lid, which when opened provides an excellent shelter from the southerly wind. As soon as the ceremony was over, off came shoes and socks, out came buckets and spades, and into the clean grey sand swarmed the children. They all revelled in it; and ns fast ns castles were built they were demolished by over-exuberant little feet. A most inviting morning tea was provided by the local committee, and the Mothers’ Club, after which the guests viewed with interest the doings of the children. r A special message of remembrance was sent to Mrs, H. Smitluin the form of a ’resolution from the gathering. Among those present were: Mrs. G. I*. Davidson. Mrs. Robertson, Miss E. Wilson. Mrs. Dowsett, Mrs. Norman. , Mrs. Gibbs, Mrs. Dnnby. Mrs. W. Luke, Mrs; rrcndeville. Mrs. Watson, Misses Ailsa Newton. Dorothy Davis. Phyllis Grev. Marjory Myers, Crawford, and M. 'Wardell.
