END OF HIS TERM
Hutt Mayor’s Farewell Last night was the final meeting of the present Lower Hutt Borough Council. Sir Alexander Roberts, the mayor, took leave of his council, and paid a tribute to Councillor A. J. Hobbs, Councillor Larver, and Councillor Boyd, who, like himself, were not seeking re-election. Councillor Hobbs had completed twenty years of unbrohen generally regretted that Sir Alexander was not standing for a further term and expressed the hope that he would offer himself for a further term. They all expressed their appreciation of the way Lady Roberts had fulfilled the duties oi lady mayoress. In reply, Sir Alexander Roberts said that if lie did elect to enter public life again it would be to serve tho ratepayers alone.
