Outstanding Rates In view of the present depression with rates outstanding amounting to £7OOO (against £3500 for the previous year), and an expenditure of £lO3O on unemployment and not provided for in the estimates, the Mayor, Str Alexander Roberts, considered at last night’s meeting of the council that the borough finances were in a satisfactory position. , , , Councillors expressed concern at the position created by a judgment of tho Court of Appeal concerning rates outstanding on properties mortgaged to the Crown. As things were at present the council did not know what its income would bo from one year’s end to another.
