GUN CLUB SHOOTING
Provincial Championship Next Saturday the Hiitt Valley Gun Club will conduct the Wellington provincial clay bird championship, the conditions being 21 birds from the 18 yards mark. The present champion is Mr. C. Kempton, of Wanganui. In addition to the championship, there will be a £5O open handicap match of 21 birds, a sweepstake handicap of 15 birds, and a double-rise handicap of 10 birds. Hutt Valley Club Members of the Hutt Valley Gun Club opened the shooting with a la-bird match for a trophy presented by Mr. E. J. Witcombe. Three competitors, C. Moore (16 yds.), B. Ranish (17yds.), and H. H. Morris (17yds.), tied for first place with 14 birds apiece, and in the shoot-off Moore won from Ranish on the tenth extra bird. The second match, one of 12 birds, all the competitors shooting from the 18 yards mark. This match was won by W. J. H. Haase, who broke all of his birds. C. Moore, E. Ranish and A. Scott were all close up with 11 birds apiece. The Skeet Match was won by F. Searle with 12 birds. Next in order were W. J. H. Haase, 9 birds; C. Moore, 8; and H. H. Morris, 8 birds. The first double-rise of 10 birds was won by C. Moore with 9 birds; W. J. H. Haase, N. Irvine, and A. Scott breaking 8 birds each. The second double-rise (10 birds) was won by W. J. H. Haase, with 9 birds, with C. Moore and E. Ranish 7 birds each.
