CARTERTON FLOWER SHOW
Carterton, March 13. Ths autumn show of the Carterton Horticultural Society was held this afternoon, when there was a successful display of blooms. The champion dahlia was exhibited by Mr. H. Simmonds, of Pahiatua,. being a Mabel Lawrence variety, and the Booth Memorial Cup for most points in the cut blooms, fruit, and vegetables was won by Mn. F. M. Reynolds, of Clarevllle. Mr. A King, of Carterton, won the points prize in the vegetable section. r ' The judges were:—Pot plants and cut blooms, open section, Mr. L. Robinson (Masterton); decorative and children's classes, Miss Poole (Wellington); fruit, vegetables, Mr. J. 8. Berriman (Masterton) ; cottagers’ section, Mr. H. Poole; fancy work, Mrs. Wm. Rayner (Masterton); and children’s classes, Miss M. Reynolds, A novelty on exhibition was a one-stem lily with 05 blooms, grown by Mrs. H. Mortensen, of Carterton.
