DEFINITE STAND
Farmers’ Union and Politics AUCKLAND RESOLUTION Dominion Special Service. Auckland, December 9. The Auckland branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union has taken a definite stand against political action by the union other than by independent parties, but favours the formation of branches of the Country Party throughout the Dominion. ' Mr. A. E. Robinson, secretary of the Auckland provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union, said to-day that the branch’s attitude was defined in a resolution telegraphed to Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P.. Dominion president of the union. . The resolution also stated that the executive considered no useful purpose would be served by requiring candidates to give the pledges proposed by the Farmers’ Union last month and that idea , had already becd tried and had failed.
