SOLDIERS’ HOSTEL
The secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Hostel reported at the monthly meeting yesterday that the hostel had been very full during the month, a number of shakedowns having to be made up every night for men who were comLarge numbers had been out of work lately, and these had all registered under the Unemployment Board. ®®y ea had obtained employment and had left for other places, and it was hoped that more would be placed soon. Several cases of particular hardship were dealt with. Arrangements were made for Christmas dinner, at which there is always a large number, and for a gift for each man in the hostel. The Spinsters’ Club is donating bonbons containing gifts for the dinner, and it is hoped in spite of hard times to give the men at the hostel an enjoyable Christmas.
