CANCER CAMPAIGN
Her Excellency, Lady Bledisloe, has graciously consented to become patroness of the Wellington Women’s organisation of the British Empire Cancer CamI The president and secretary, Mrs. 0. Morice and Mrs. H. Hadfield, had a very busy day on Friday when they went to Otaki, where a good meeting was held, women being present from Te Horo, .Hautere and Manakau, as well as Otaki. Dr. Gertrude Atmore presided and is to head the committee, and Mrs. (Dr.) Milne is secretary. A meeting was also held at Paekakariki, where Mrs. Arthur Mackay was appointed chairwoman. Mrs. Morice spoke at both meetings and explained the objects of the campaign, and in each case a good working committee was formed. _ . , . Among the many efforts being made for the campaign is a monster cake, which has been made the. subject of a guessing competition, the winner of which will receive a large portion, and the rest will be sold in aid of the fund. The cake, Which has been donated by Kirkcaldie and Stains, will be cut by Mrs. Morice on Friday afternoon.
