FAMOUS FARCE
At the Y.W.C.A. Hall. Bculcott Street, Wellington, this evening, play-goers will have an -opportunity of seeing a masterpiece of English comedy when the National Repertory Theatre Society presents Oscar Wilde’s famous farce “The Importance of Being Earnest.” The London “Mercury." with reference to the recent successful revival in London, says: 1 “The play’ still deserves all the galaxy of epithets which have at one tune and another attached to It. It is still about eighteen times as witty as any play that has been written since. It denes ■imitation or competition.’’. Every effort has been made to make the local presentation an artistic success. Tlie settings will be unusual, but in keeping with the spirit of the play, and the cast a carefuly selected and experienced one. Miss Louise Hall will appear as the formidable Lady Bracknell. Miss Beryl Earle as Ihe Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax. Miss Hazel Wells as Cecily Cardew, Miss Ethel Oldbury Jones as Miss Prism, Mr. A. D. Priestley as John Worthing, Mr. John Bown ns Algernon Moncrleff, Mr. Barton Ginger as Canon Chasuble, and Messrs. J. R. Herd and Ernest Coleridge as the menservants. , ' The final rehearsals have gone splendidly. and the first performance should be a memorable one. The box plans for the five nights’ season are open to the public at the Bristol. '
