YACHTS CAPSIZE
Boisterous Weather Spoils Racing
The patiki' trials at Petone yesterday were interrupted by the weather conditions. The judge, after seeing one, race, decided to call off the others which were arranged for the afternoon. At about 10 o’clock three boats took the water at the Heretaunga club-house, the course being set to the Petone wharf and back. Hardly had they left the shore when a boat manned by a Petone crew capsized. The remaining two, both with Paremata erews, started on the course; and all went comparatively smoothly until tho turn to come down with the wind. Here one of the boats broke out a spinnaker, and half a minute later she capsized, owing to having too great a press of sail. The other boat finished- the course m good style. Her crew throughout the race handled her carefully. and well, which alone prevented a similar accident.
