BANKRUPT BUILDER

Involved Transactions A number of involved transactions were disclosed at a meeting of the creditors of Harold Arthur Ennis, builder, of Wellington, held before the official assignee, yesterday. Liabilities amounted to £lOO6/16/1, being made up of £1587/7/4 debts to trade creditors, and £l9/8/9 unpaid wages. Estimated assets amounted to £BO4/3/-, leaving a deficiency of £BO2 13/1. The assets comprised a number of completed and uncompleted jobs, several of which were abandoned for the reason that owing to the cost of competition and registration of liens, no assets would be available for the general creditors. Bankrupt attributed his present position to the holding of a property in Ngaio Road, Kelburn, for a period of ten months, on which he lost about £600; to having to trade second mortgages on several jobs; and to the depression which was affecting the building trade. The meeting appointed Messrs. W. B. Rainey, J. F. Stewart, N. 11. Mather a committee to go into the question of liens, orders, and other matters on the contracts. The meeting was adjourned sine die.
