Blow-out at Moturoa
RUSH OF GAS Mud Thrown Over Wide Area V By Telegraph.—Press Association. New Plymouth, July 25. The Moturoa Oilfields Ltd.'s bore blew out this moruiug, without warning, sending up great gushes of mud that coated the derrick and spread over a wide area. The bore was down 1740 feet, aud the force of gas blew the drilling gear up till it stuck with the amount of debris gathered. Then the gas, gathering force, blew the gear clean out of the hole, and up eighty feet, twisting wire ropes, and doing damage to the tackle. The gear came straight down like a huge spear, buying itself twenty feet in the ground. The blow continued for a quarter of an hour and was followed by a continuous flow of inflammable gas. I
