MASONIC HOMES

MR. F. S. POTTER REPEATS GENEROSITY (Special Correspondent.) Auckland, November 27. Another handsome gift has been made to the Freemasons of New Zealand by Mr. F. S. Potter, a member of an Auckland lodge, who last year presented to the Grand Lodge of New Zealand an area of land at Panmure, for the purpose of establishing Masonic homes which could be occupied by aged members of the Craft and their wives, rent free, during their declining years. Upon this property, after having conveyed it to Grand Lodge, Mr. Potter is now having two cottages erected at his own expense, by way of initiating the scheme. Mr. Potter has now further evinced his generosity towards the Craft by presenting Grand Lodge with another property, this time at Beach Road, Papakura, to be used for the purposes of an orphanage. The area of the property is 9J acres, and upon it stands a cottage, almost new. Mr. Potter has intimated his intention of conveying the land to Grand Lodge on the terms that he maintains it free of expense to the institution until he establishes a fund to endow the orphanage. If at the end of three years this has not been done, Grand Lodge will then have the right to sell the land and use the proceeds to build cottages or an orphanage on the Panmure property.
