HOME SCIENCE.

OTAGO UNIVERSITY EXTENSION WORK. Some time ago a sum of money from , the Carnegie Trust Fund was donated to ; Otago University for extension work in home science. A tutor-organiser and an assistant tutor have already been appointed who, under the direction of Professor Strong, are organising and preparing for the practical lecturing and demonstrating that they hope to commence next February. The object of the scheme is tobring women together in such a way that they may discuss their problems to mutual advantage and seek infonnation that will help them to minimise the work in their homes and give them more leisure to devote to other things. The actual field work for the present must of necessity be confined to Otago, but the University hopes to-reach women all over New Zealand by means of the Press and bv. wireless. The first wireless talk, dealing with the aims and methods of the work, was set down for yesterday afternoon, and further talks on domestic affairs will be broadcast from 4YA every Wednesday afternoon.
