Hellaby, Limited, at Westfield, by 100 slaughtermen who went on strike on Wednesday. The City Council arranged a conference immediately to discuss, the points raised by the men in connection with the disputed award conditions regarding pig slaughtering. He advised them to accept the Mayor’s suggestion and' return to work in order that their grievances might be properly heard. The slaughtermen agreed unanimously to resume work at 2 p.m. A conference was called at the Town Hall at 2.30 p.m;, and by this time advice was received that all the men were at work. The deliberations continued until . 7 p.m., when the representatives of the men left with a proposition which had been formulated for submission to the men to-morrow.
