LEGISLATION SUGGESTED BY FARMERS Palmerston North, August 3. The numerous complaints from all over the Dominion regarding sheep-stealing, were commented upon at a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Branch of the Dominion Farmers’ Union to-day. The chairman, Jfr. O. P. Lynch, stated that the jiractice was rife, and that heavy losses had been suffered by owners. Mr. J. T. Kent gave notice of motion: “That the Government be requested to bring in legislation providing that owing to the amount of sheep-stealing going on, the auctioneers be compelled to name the vendor, and that the latter be compelled to state from whom he purchased the sheep.” ' ■ .
